- I have found that Trumpet Winsock (v2.0b) uses the Windows port
- settings for communicating with the COMM port. Most Windows
- communications programs allow you to set the port speed within the
- program itself and these settings over-ride the Windows settings. Not
- so with Trumpet. Go to the Windows control panel and click on the
- Ports icon. Click on the Comm port that your modem is attached to.
- When you look at the settings, you will most likely see the baud rate
- for the port set at 9600 and handshaking at Xon/Xoff (the defaults).
- Change the port speed to 57600 (or 115200) and the handshaking to
- "hardware". The default settings severely impact the time it takes
- to download files via Netscape, etc. when using Trumpet Winsock as
- your dialer program.
